3 Things to Consider When Choosing a Streaming Platform

Updated: Dec 29, 2020

With the reality of COVID-19 securely embedded within the culture of our society, churches continue to struggle with choosing the best technologies for streaming. How do we get our message to our members and supporters who may not be ready to return to in-person worship?

Unfortunately, there is no one answer. There are going to be many variables to consider when choosing a live streaming platform.

Some of the things to consider will be ease of use, affordability, and reliability.

Ease of Use:

Many churches don’t have a full time IT professional on staff that can handle complex infrastructure set-up.

Therefore, you want to ensure that whatever streaming solution you use is something that can be set-up with minimal effort. There are many really good solutions out there that offer a plug-in-play approach.

Affordability:

Pricing for streaming solutions varies widely. I caution you to take your time and map out exactly what you’re hoping to achieve and set realistic expectations. Remember, you get what you pay for. Many of the inexpensive solutions may limit features and functionality.

However, the limited functionality may be sufficient for what you are trying to achieve immediately. Set a budget and remember that most of the streaming solutions available today are subscription-based. This means you’ll be paying a monthly reoccurring charge for your solution.

Reliability:

Remember I mentioned you get what you pay for? Try to choose a solution that will be robust enough for you to achieve your goals.

You don’t want your streaming solution crashing on you during service, freezing, or being completely unavailable when you are ready to begin your live stream.

Choosing your live stream platform is a very important decision to make, but there are many other aspects that come in to play to obtain success. Here are 3 Easy Steps to Live Streaming Success.
